Exercise and arthritis

  • Regular exercise can help to reduce joint pain. Try walking or swimming every day for 5 to 10 minutes, grdually increasing the amount of time you exercise
  • Try stretching exercises such as yoga for movement and posture
  • Wear shoes that fit well and are designed specially for the activity you are taking part in; well cushioned soles reduce stress on weight bearing joints
  • Don't push yourself too hard. Too much exercise can lead directly to osteoarthritis
