You've heard it before: take the stairs instead of the elevator and walk, don't drive to the corner store. You'll be more motivated to comply if you wear a pedometer - a tiny monitor clipped to your waistband that counts the number of steps you take.
Researches show that people who wear a pedometer walk an average of 40 minutes per day - about 11 minutes more than those who don't. Pedometers are sold at sporting goods stores.
